Experiments carried out in the flow laboratories of New Zealand’s Otago University have shown that surfaces treated with Durepox have a 15% lower friction coefficient than conventional finishes.
Durepox can be applied, directly or after suitable preparation, to steel, galvanised iron and aluminium, wood, gelcoat, fibreglass and carbon fibre.
Also available is Durepox High Performance Clear, ideal for adding lustre to surfaces already treated with Durepox of any colour, or directly on all exposed carbon components.
It is lighter in weight than other primers in the nautical sector. Originally available only in black, white, red and grey, Durepox can be produced in most colours by request.
Applied wet-on-wet, and quick to dry, Durepox can significantly improve the speed of treated boats.
It forms an excellent and long-lasting barrier to water penetration.
Dureprox has been applied to the hulls of some of the most prestigious racing vessels and cruise ships. It has protected winning teams, from the first Team NZ boat onward, and is currently in the AC72 specification for the America’s Cup Challenges.
